Strategic Project Management: Linking Project Portfolios to Organizational Strategy

Business Acumen

Projects are often part of an organization’s larger goals and objectives. Strategic project management understands this. It’s very important that we look at individual projects and how they can potentially  benefit a company – how those projects connect to the overall strategic plan of the company. In this presentation, we’ll consider the role of leadership in project management and the processes by which project management and project portfolio management can contribute in concrete ways to the success of a company’s strategic goals.

Learning Objectives:
• Define the basic concepts and terms of project leadership and organizational strategy.
• Analyze the role of project leadership in contributing to the success of an organization’s strategic
goals.
• Discuss some methods used by project leadership to align projects with strategic goals.
