Speaker: Tyler Smith, P.E.
Speaker Bio: Mr. Smith serves Burns & McDonnell as a Project Manager specializing in high voltage transmission and distribution projects. He has been involved in the design and management of substation projects ranging from 4kV to 500kV. His project management responsibilities include project scope definition, man-hour and cost projections, project setup, coordination and administration, task authorizations, scheduling and budgeting. He is responsible for overseeing a team of 50+ engineers and drafters in multiple Burns & McDonnell offices across the country. Mr. Smith has also been involved in the program management of substation projects up to 500-kV.
Description of Event: A successful project team starts with hiring the right people with the right skill sets. But what's equally important is developing the soft skills of everyone on the team to promote efficiency and deliver projects with seamless execution. During this presentation we'll discuss several components that are needed for a team to be successful. Additionally, we'll walk through some examples and different steps team leadership can take on the road to building a successful team.
