CMM- Youth in Project Management
Learn how students are using project management to make the word a better place by providing everything from feminine hygiene products, to trees, coats, and school supplies in countries like Malawi, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan and more. Students will discuss their class, the Project Management Ready Certification from PMI and how project management has helped them in their international projects.
Two of our professional mentors will also talk about their role in helping these young people to apply the principles of project management. Members will then be invited to rotate through team displays highlighting international projects at GPS, giving members a chance to speak one-on-one with students and hear about their international work first hand.
The International Studies program at STA is designed for students from around the Kansas City Metropolitan Area who are passionate about world cultures and languages and are interested in taking those first steps towards working internationally or studying abroad. Students will acquire 84 skills considered essential to working and studying internationally, with specific attention given to intercultural communication, international language exploration, project management and collaboration, professionalism, technology, and research. PMIKC has partnered with the International Studies program for the past three years providing guidance, direct mentorships, and financial support of the PM Ready certification from the Project Management Institute.
