AI Made the Change Plan Smarter. Adoption Still Depends on People.
AI can accelerate change, but it cannot create acceptance. Learn how to build commitment, engagement, and lasting adoption in times of transformation.
Your change plan is smarter than ever. AI helped you build the plan, draft the communication, personalize training, analyze sentiment, and identify stakeholders. Yet adoption can still stall.
The challenge is not the quality of the plan. It's the model underneath it. Most change efforts still run on Tell–Train–Launch: explain the change, build the skills, go live, and manage the resistance that follows. AI can help make each step faster and more precise, but it can’t make people accept the change. The key insight is this: Resistance may not be opposition. It may be a signal of position, where someone currently stands on the path to acceptance.
In this session, Darrel Popowich introduces Acceptance, one of the five elements of Transformation CRAFT, and challenges a long-held assumption about how people move through change. Using the Ladder of Acceptance, you will learn to recognize behaviors that are often labeled as resistance and instead see them as signals of where people are in their change journey.
You will then explore See–Ask–Support–Invite, a human-centered alternative to Tell–Train–Launch, to understand how to respond to those signals and what actions may help people take the next step toward acceptance. The approach helps build understanding, participation and commitment to change. That shift changes the question from “How do we overcome resistance?” to “Where are people actually standing, and what do they need to take the next step?”
