World- renowned author, Saleh Mubarak, Ph. D, an authority on project planning, scheduling, and project control will revisit the Critical Path Definition. Almost all textbooks and other technical sources, define the critical path right after the introduction of the critical path method and its calculations. These definitions revolve around the simple statement that the critical path is the longest path on a logic network; from start to finish. Although this definition is correct in the general sense, it is incomplete and inaccurate. It has loopholes and flaws that will show in certain cases. Take-away from the presentation: Provoking thoughts about the definition of the critical path that most of us took it for granted. This is a daring challenge to the current definition, based on simple analysis to known subjects. This is the first time when we “revisit” the critical path, not just after defining the critical path method (CPM), but after discussing all related topics. The suggested topic is still up to debate and willing to take any input.

Lisa DiTullio is the principal of Project Chalk Talk to speak on: Modern Project Management: The Next Moonshot? Every organization, regardless of industry, seeks the smartest gamechangers to deliver innovative breakthroughs and topnotch services to delight their customer and to lead the pack. So why do we continue to rely on traditional project management practices and expect to obtain different results? Today's environment demands flawless implementation from every project team member and key stakeholder to drive short-term performance and long-term value through new products, advanced technology, and innovative services. The future belongs to organizations who are after the next moonshot to catapult organizational capabilities and achieve implementation excellence. Why Does it Matter? In 2017, The Project Management Institute (PMI) estimated that project-oriented work attributed to $12 Trillion; by 2027, PMI expects the number to grow to $27 Trillion. Yet, according to the Standish Group, only 35% of projects undertaken worldwide are successful. Estimates suggest that eighty-eight million people are currently working on projects, with the vast majority not formally trained. For those who do hold certification, 52% of PMPs have less than 5-years of experience.
