Lunch and Learn Topic: Navigating Projects through Political Science Speaker Bio: Zac Jarrard is the fearless gaming leader with Jarrard Consulting, LLC. He has over twenty years of experience playing video games, leading multi-generational teams, and delivering project results. Zac's research interests include gamification, project management, innovation, and generations at work. He holds eight project management and quality certifications including: PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, CQIA, CQPA, CSSGB, CMQ/OE, and CSSBB. Outside of work, Zac is an Eagle Scout and active in the American Society for Quality as Chair of the Kansas City section. Description: Political science is the art of government and working with systems to advance the common good. Projects can often feel political with regards to balancing different stakeholder needs, working through organizational systems, and meeting end user requirements. There are key concepts from political science that can help project managers work more effectively with teams, organizational systems, and customers. This presentation will 1) Provide an overview of political science 2) Examine American political philosophy and applicability to project management 3) Share lessons learned from using political science to manage successful projects.
