Knowledge Exchange Title: The State of the PMO Panel Discussion with local PMO Directors Speakers: Maureen Schwartz – PMO Director at Commerce Lisa Potter – Enterprise PMO Director at Oracle Cerner Speakers Bio: Maureen Schwartz is a Group Manager for Consumer Servicing at Commerce Bank. Maureen oversees several teams, including a Consumer Strategic Services Project Management Office. Maureen has been at Commerce Bank for 20 years, working in various aspects of Project Management for most of her tenure. Lisa Potter is the Enterprise PMO Director at Oracle Cerner. Lisa works with several PMO teams to drive PM best practices and provide PM consultation. She leads the PM Community of Practice consisting of 1800+ PM associates. Lisa also leads the program mgmt. team for the Integration Management Office. Lisa has over 25 years of experience previously working at Accenture and Freightquote. Description of Event: Join us on November 10th at 5:15 PM for an insightful discussion on the state of the PMO. We’ve invited industry experts, Lisa Potter, Enterprise PMO Director at Oracle Cerner, Maureen Schwartz, PMO Director at Commerce Bank, to discuss the PMO state and share tips on how they’ve been successful in directing PMOs within their organizations. Speaker: Lyn Heaton Presentation Title: Do you manage risks, OR do they manage you? Topic: Risk Bio: Lyn Heaton has been active in the Project Management field for more than 30 years, both as a Project Manager and an educator. She worked for 19+ years in the Telecommunications industry at Sprint Nextel and now provides project management training to various corporations, the U.S. Army, PMI Chapters, and the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Lyn is also a founding member of the Project Management Training Alliance, a nonprofit organization of Project Management trainers who promote project management best practices through education and training services. Lyn is an active member of the Kansas City Chapter of PMI, previously serving on their board of directors as the VP of Professional Development. She has helped to teach or facilitate training for the chapter since 2007. She received her PMP in 2001 and holds a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University. Presentation Description: How well do you manage risk on your projects? Every project has elements of risk within it, dealing with those risks is so much more than just a simple plan. What do you think of when you hear the word Risk? An event that could negatively impact your project? Join me to review the basics of risk management. We will then focus on ways to identify risks for projects as well as strategies that you might use to deal with them. Learner Outcomes: 1.
